Helpful tips for organizing closets?

Like most “spring cleaning” types of chores, organizing your closet can be a tedious task. Even though organizing a closet can be something that you dread, in most cases, the finished product makes you wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. You receive instant rewards from completion of the project. Additional storage space or even just a more efficient use of the space is a reward in itself.
Organizing closets is not a task that should be jumped into without some sort of plan. There are a number of helpful tips to guide you down the path towards completion of a full closet re-organization. From fitted sheets folding to shoe organizing, there are many things that you can do to help make better use of your space.

* Start Fresh: By cleaning everything out of the closet you can begin to visualize what you want to achieve and also get to see items that you may not have seen in a while.

* Evaluate Usage of Items: As you are cleaning everything out of the closet is the best time for you to take an objective view on the articles and items that you are storing. If you are not using an item, or have not worn an article of clothing in quite a while, then you should strongly consider giving them to charity. In this step, it is of the utmost importance that you are honest with yourself!

* Using Hangers Correctly: By simply having the right kind of hanger for the right piece of clothing, you can better use your space and also make sure that your clothes are sufficiently supported by the hanger that you are using. This also leads into coordinating within your closet, for the more advanced closet organizer. This includes organizing everything in your closet by color, seasonality, styles, etc.

* Hanging and Storing Levels: It is always advisable to hang or store the things that you wear consistently at eye level. Then move the things you do not use as frequently to a higher level in your closet.

* Categorize by Season: If you start to notice that clearing out your closet is not opening up as much space as you would like, it is time to evaluate whether splitting up your clothes by season makes sense. If it does, then you would be wise to move the “off season” items to another closet until you need them. Obviously this will involve some form of reorganization on a seasonal basis.

These are just some of the tips that help you organize and make better use of your closets. By following these steps, you will be pleasantly surprised with the increased space and functionality of your closet.
