Handbag Organizers Bring Order to Your Life – And Your Closet

It’s no big news that women love purses. Next to shoes, handbags are the most important element in pulling an outfit together. Not only are they an important accessory, but also for most women, handbags are an investment in which they carry their lives. Unfortunately, handbag collections can get out of control and seem to take on a life of their own. The solution? De-clutter your life with simple handbag organizers.

One or two purses don’t pose much of a problem as far as organization goes. But then again, most women have a collection that far exceeded this two-purse limit back in high school. If you hate the idea of relegating your purse collection to the floor, or have simply run out of shelf space, now is the time to get organized.

The first step to taming a mountain of handbags is to conduct a short inventory of your collection. What purses do you use most frequently? Are there any that have lain dormant in your closet for over a year? Be ruthless in taking stock of what should stay or go. Ratty or out-of-style purses only take up necessary space. Don’t fool yourself into thinking, “I’ll need this one in case of….” Just let it go–a good rule of thumb is to throw out any bag you haven’t used in over six months.

Once you have de-junked your collection, invest in a good quality handbag organizer. Hanging your bags from nails in the wall just won’t cut it, and shelf space is usually at a premium. There are two main types of organizers to choose from, both of which have advantages and drawbacks.

Compartmentalized shelf cube. Each bag has its own slot, giving you easy access and visibility. You can quickly find what you need, and purses store upright, keeping them beautiful from year to year. Since it sits on a shelf, this method of organization is great for someone who doesn’t have to worry about conserving shelf space.

Over-the-door. This is the perfect closet organizer if you have limited space. High-quality, self-sticking loops keep handbags neat and ready for use, all while freeing up precious shelf space and keeping bags off the floor. Over-the-door organizers come in all kinds of stylish fabrics and designs to match any décor.

Whatever style of organizer suits you best, remember that the point is to bring some order into your life and to protect your investment.
